Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you're comfortable. Keep in mind that soreness may occur after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing chronic neck/back pain, headaches, migraines, anxiety, learning/behavioral disorders/digestive problems, speech and swallowing difficulties, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and emotional trauma/depression (among other things). It does this by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and around the skull. Developed by physician William Sutherland, this therapy provides a very soothing and relaxing healing experience.
*CST can be incorporated into any massage session or can be done as a session on its own. We can discuss what would be best for you together.
A modified version of Cupping Therapy used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The benefits of Cupping are: draining of excess fluid and toxins, loosening of adhesions and lifting of connective tissue, releasing "knots", stimulating the peripheral nervous system. Wonderful for fibromyalgia, anxiety, insomnia, post-injury trauma, and chronic pain.
Scraping therapy works to break down scar tissue and adhesions, which stimulates blood flow, promotes healing, and reduces inflammation. Specialized tools are used to scrape the skin and underlying tissues, including fascia. Scraping is a wonderful addition to massage therapy!
Essential oils are mixed with a carrier oil (jojoba oil is used in my practice) to enhance the massage experience. Different oils offer different benefits to the body, and we will decide together which oil(s) to use for your personalized session.
*If you're interested in an aromatherapy massage, please discuss use of essential oils with me when booking your appointment.
Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.
On your first visit, i will arrive a few minutes early to have you fill out a brief health history form. You can then discuss your concerns and goals for the session with me. Next I will leave the room, and you can disrobe to your comfort level. You'll have a few moments to get comfortable on the table, and I will enter when you are ready. Questions and open communication are encouraged: please do not hesitate to ask me to change the music or temperature or adjust pressure if need be. This is YOUR session, and you should be as comfortable as possible!
